Prof. Jürgen Howaldt spent four weeks as a Visiting Scholar at the Centre for Social Impact of the Swinburne University of Technology. During his stay in Australia, he gave lectures on the topic of social innovation and met Australian social innovation experts, also making agreements for future co-operations. Prof. Howaldt presented the results of the global mapping of social innovations, which was conducted during the research project SI-DRIVE, i.a. at the Warren Centre for Advanced Engineering at the University of Sydney, at the University New South Wales and at the Australian Centre for Social Innovation in Adelaide.

At the end of his visit to Australia, Prof. Howaldt took part at the 9th International Social Innovation Research Conference (ISIRC), which took place at the Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne from the 12th to the 14th of December 2017. Together with Dmitri Domanski, he presented the results of the project SI-DRIVE in view of a comprehensive innovation policy and regarding the building of ecosystems of social innovation.

The SI-DRIVE project was also represented by Dieter Rehfeld from IAT in Gelsenkirchen. His lecture dealt with the correlation between social innovations and institutional change. The next ISIRC conference will take place in Heidelberg – organized in cooperation with CSI Heidelberg and IAT Gelsenkirchen – in September 2018.
