The 19th Conference for Applied Science of the German professional association of sociologists (BDS) took place from 9th to 11th June 2017 at the Social Research Centre Dortmund. The topic of the conference was “Shaping Social innovation locally”. Matching on this topic, Bastian Pelka, Mathias Cuypers and Jens Maylandt presented the project I-LINC.

The lecture consisted of a short opening presentation and a discussion afterwards. In the presentation, the field of I-LINC stakeholders was characterized more detailed. For this, a dataset was evaluated, which for instance contained information on the cooperation behavior, the sectoral assignment and the focused topics of the stakeholders. In particular, regional and supraregional stakeholders were compared.

The subsequent discussion centered on the question, how a superior meta platform like I-LINC can foster Social innovation also on a local level. The participants were able to impart some new insights: (Quality) management, misuse protection, the integration of relevant actors and special incentives, like elements of an open innovation, were named.
