Social Innovation on the Rise: Global mapping at a glance

25 international project partners of the EU-funded large scale project SI-DRIVE “Social Innovation: Driving Force of Social Change” have mapped 1.005 social innovation initiatives belonging to seven policy fields on all five continents of the world. The results of the first world-wide comparative analysis give exciting insights into the highly diverse world of social innovation, the variety of actors and their interaction, and the complexity of the ongoing innovation processes.

The abbreviated version presents the results of the explorative inventory of an empirically under-researched area at a glance. Special attention is given to social innovations in education and lifelong learning, employment, environment and climate change, energy supply, transport and mobility, health and social care, and poverty reduction and sustainable development. It shows that social innovation has become a ubiquitous concept driven by problems and complex innovation processes, often depending on individuals but more and more also embedded in social innovation ecosystems. The key results of the mapping are available as a download here or as a printed brochure (to be ordered by sending us your address via email to ).
