TU Dortmund University – sfs at the training course “Social innovation as driving force of economic, technological and social development” in Valencia, Spain

The three-day event at the Polytechnic University dealt with the potential of social innovation in the Pacific region of Colombia.

ingenio_logo From 13 to 15 July 2015 international experts offered an introduction into the current debate on social innovation. During interactive sessions, participants were made familiar with different theoretical concepts and possibilities of practical implementation of social innovations. The course was directed to a government delegation from four Colombian departments. Its members came to Valencia to learn about how social innovation can be integrated into their work in the Pacific region of Colombia. One of the highlights of the course was a closer look at social innovation in Europe, offered by Dmitri Domanski, researcher at TU Dortmund University – sfs, who spoke on the European Union’s current innovation strategy and referred especially to the role of social innovation within it. In this context, he presented the international research project SI-DRIVE (http://www.si-drive.eu), which is coordinated by TU Dortmund University – sfs. The course was organized by the research centre INGENIO of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (http://www.ingenio.upv.es/en) and the Colombian National Centre for Production (Centro Nacional de Productividad, http://www.cnp.org.co).
