On Telecentre staff as Social Innovators

What are public access spaces such as telecentres, how are they promoting digital inclusion, and inhowfar can they be considered social innovators? Dr. Christoph Kaletka (TU Dortmund / Sozialforschungsstelle) discussed these questions in a presentation at the 17th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) in Los Angeles on August 6.

HCIlogo Drawing upon results of SI-DRIVE and SIMPACT, two TUDO’s current research projects on social innovation, Christoph Kaletka argued that social innovation and digital Inclusion are increasingly interlinked in practice, but research has not yet linked the two topics systematically, while both fields would profit from an integrated debate. Prof. Ingo Bosse, representing TU Dortmund’s thematic cluster “Technology for Inclusion and Participation” (TIP) at the conference alongside Christoph Kaletka, gave a presentation on “Criteria for Designing Blended Learning Materials for Inclusive Education”.
