Social innovation and regional development: Dmitri Domanski holds speech at the University of Cauca in Popayán, Colombia

On May 6 2015 InnovAcción Cauca and Cicaficultura, two projects that deal with social innovations in Colombia, invited to the University of Cauca to discuss social innovations in regional context.

Foto_SI_Kolumbien During his lecture, Dmitri Domanski (researcher at TU Dortmund University – sfs) spoke on the importance of micro- and meso-level social innovations for social change. Social innovation success factors, especially in local and regional contexts, as well as barriers for well-functioning networks were some of the central topics of the following discussion. The event was attended by approximately 100 persons.

InnovAcción Cauca (http://www.unicauca.edu.co/innovaccioncauca/) is a network that fosters competencies in social innovations in the department of Cauca. Some of the project objectives are a closer connection between universities and the social and productive sector as well as fostering of research about social innovations. The project centre Cicaficultura (http://cicaficultura.blogspot.de/) focuses on research of the coffee culture in Cauca.
